REUNION ISLAND TOUR PACKAGE

VolcanoAbout Reunion Island
Reunion Island is a French island located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and about 200 kilometres (120 miles) southwest of Mauritius. Unlike its neighbour, Mauritius, Reunion Island’s main attraction is not its beaches. True, but if beaches are what you want, you’d be better off in Mauritius or Maldives. That said, Reunion’s volcanic origins grant it an extraordinarily beautiful landscape, one characterised by high peaks, deep canyons and plains. Trekking is the most obvious activity and is perhaps also the most rewarding. The towns are adorned with colonial architecture and are excellent starting points for inland adventures. The Reunion offers you wonderful French cuisine and style. The resort comprises Creole-style villas. Reunion is a diverse country with something for everyone. You can choose whether you want to relax on the beach with the warm Indian Ocean tickling your toes or do something a little more adventurous like snorkelling off one of the dazzling coral reefs.

What to do in Reunion Island
Reunion Island is the perfect destination for travellers seeking both a relaxing island holiday and an action-packed adventure trip. Hike the active Piton de la Fournaise volcano. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage status natural park to see the island’s native flora and fauna up close. Go canyoning over La Réunion’s many waterfalls or take to the ocean with a scuba diving or surfing expedition and hang-gliding. Drive where you want and discover waterfalls, beautiful scenery and idyllic beaches in this safe, welcoming country in the Indian Ocean.

Day 1: You will be met and greeted at the Roland Garros Airport and drive along the South Coast to your accommodation in St-Pierre. We will take it easy with a Food and Drink tour. We will visit their popular farmers market, where we will get an educational on their food and drink – taste the Creole cuisine & get some French Style cooking lessons. We will finish off with a Cocktail & Beer Tasting tour to Geranium distilleries. Cuisine + Culture – Creole Influence, Sega Dancing.

Day 2: We trek 13kms to the volcano rim to view the dramatic lunar landscape, devoid of vegetation but filled with the striking colours of burnt umber, smoky topaz and jet black. Reunion is home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, the Piton de la Fournaise which has erupted 180 times since records began in 1640. The 700,000 natives have learnt to live their life around the flow of lava that erupts from this bubbling magma chamber, sometimes rebuilding highways two or three times a year. The Piton de la Fournaise is a truly phenomenal demonstration of the power of nature. A relatively easy walk but one you need to be prepared for, the views of the volcano and the panoramic scenes of the island is definitely worth the legwork. No trip to Reunion would be complete without a close up look of Furnace Peak.
